Build models SUPER FAST

Just trace the contours on any image with the mouse cursor, specify the contour levels and model dimensions, then press the GENERATE MAP button. Done in minutes.

I taught reservoir simulation for several years for the Petroleum Engineering Dept. at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I used the Eclipse model to try to teach engineering seniors a bit about simulation and I am afraid that I lost most of them due to the complexity of the program. While yours, of course, is not intended to be a full function simulator, it would have been far superior for teaching than Eclipse. I would have liked to have it available!

As many wells as you want - wherever you want them

Place as many vertical, horizontal, or fracked oil or gas producers and water or gas injectors as you want. Wherever you want.

Finding the optimal number of wells and their best locations is easy.

A great tool for quick simulations.  And inexpensive too.  Additionally, it is a great educational tool for reservoir engineers to get an overall understanding reservoir performance.  When there isn't time and money for large Eclipse/Petrel models.

Relative permeability and capillary pressure tables in a snap

Enter end points and Corey exponents, then click the SCAL CORRELATIONS button. Done in no time!

Alternatively, enter Special Core Analysis measurements directly following the industry standard Eclipse format.

I would say that an ExcSim license should be on every reservoir engineers desktop.  It was always good practice to develop a coarse reservoir model before starting on a detailed fine scale model.  This practice seems now to have stopped as engineers go straight into the detail, without sufficient understanding of what the key variables are.  Getting to a result using the current sophisticated software suites can take 2-3 months.  With a typical charge-out rate of £1500 per engineer day, the cost of such a study can be very significant  (£100K easily).  Getting to result in ExcSim could take just a week (£7.5k).  Do you really need the extra precision??  Do you really have the budget??

Fluid properties with the click of a button

Picture
Example: All you need to generate Oil, Gas, and Water PVT data from correlations!  See correlation output in next image.
Enter oil, gas, and water densities, separator pressure and temperature, some basic gas properties, and press the PVT CORRELATION button. How easy is that? Takes you 1 minute!
Picture
Or enter actual fluid laboratory measurements directly from PVT reports using the industry standard Eclipse format.

I think, ExcSim is very good at it. This is an excellent tool for data room purposes (M&D, BD activities), understanding uncertainties and etc.

Then kick back and enjoy the show

Building your model is super easy and super fast. Then, all you have to do is press the RUN BUTTON and enjoy the show.

Watch how it progresses in run time. See how fluid fronts are advancing, how the water-cut and GOR are developing, how individual wells are performing, how and when the various drive mechanisms kick in and much much more!

I am a consulting petroleum engineer and often I in need a user friendly, excel based black oil simulator to assist in predicting reservoir performance rather than relying solely on production decline forecasts. Also I need the model results to be easily input into to a cashflow model.
ExcSim fulfills this requirement.

An Excel-based tool for true professionals

EXCSIM is a two-dimensional 3-phase fully implicit reservoir simulator add-in for Microsoft® Excel 2003 - 2019 versions of Microsoft® Office. Simulate oil and gas production forecasts from any underground oil and gas field.

An EXCSIM reservoir model consists of up to 35×35=1,225 grid blocks of any size in a single layer or multi-layered cross-section, and with any number of wells, producers and/or injectors.

EXCSIM is a modified black oil simulator with the three primary phases: oil, gas, and water, and two secondary phases: gas dissolved in oil (solution gas) and oil dissolved in gas (vaporized oil).

"Arguably the most awesome Excel-based tool for petroleum and reservoir engineers."

"Ideal for super-fast early phase prospect evaluations, prototyping, mockups, and sensitivities."

Monitor water and gas coning & cusping in run-time

"But WAIT, there's MORE!"

Automatic report generator

Picture
Time is your most precious resource. Therefore EXCSIM will automatically describe the simulation model and analyze all of the results for you in a complete, fully automated report, typically 15-20 pages long.

Moreover, it is all done in Microsoft Word. Hence, you are free to add, edit, delete and insert text, whole paragraphs, figures, and tables as you please.

This unique feature provides an excellent starting point for reporting your own work, and will save you loads of time! Every time!

What is more, it all happens in typical ExcSim fashion:
Like magic. By the click of a button.
